The Ghana Police Service has authenticated the arrest of Kwame Baffoe, alias Abronye, for ‘offensive conduct conducive to the breach of public peace.’

In a brief communiqué issued on Monday, September 8, the Police revealed that Mr. Baffoe was apprehended earlier in the day and is presently in custody.

He is expected to be arraigned in court in the coming days.

The Police have not disclosed the specific conduct that led to the arrest, but the move takes place amid increased public attention surrounding the outspoken Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Abronye was recently in the news after submitting formal requests for political asylum in eight countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, Germany, and Côte d’Ivoire.

In his petition, he alleged increasing political persecution and threats to his life, accusing the current government of misusing state security agencies for political purposes.

As part of inquiries linked to Abronye, Police reportedly searched the residence of former NPP Youth Organiser Moses Abor on Sunday, but he was not present.
