Assin North: 41-year-old man shoots 35-year-old wife due to cheating suspicions.

A 41-year-old man, Wahibu Bukari, allegedly shot his 35-year-old wife, Faustina Ackom, on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Anum in the Assin North district of the Central region, due to suspicions of infidelity.

She sustained injuries to her breast and inner left arm during the dispute and is currently receiving treatment at the St Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin Fosu.

Bukari and Faustina, married for 10 years with four children, were involved in a domestic dispute that escalated into violence on Sunday. Eyewitnesses reported hearing Faustina scream for help around 1:00am.

Lydia Yeboah, an eyewitness, stated that Bukari had been unwell and suspected his wife of cheating, leading to the altercation.

Bukari allegedly found phone numbers on his wife’s phone and questioned her around 12:30 am on Sunday.

During the argument, witnesses claim that Bukari shot Faustina in the left arm and breast as she attempted to flee. Her cries for help alerted neighbors, who rushed to the scene to assist her.

Bukari fled the scene immediately after the shooting and is currently on the run. Residents believe he may be hiding in Assin Fosu, Kushea, or Twifo Praso.

The police are conducting investigations into the incident.

A team from the Assin Fosu Divisional Police Command visited the victim at the hospital to assess the extent of her injuries and gather information.
