WAEC releases 2025 Private Candidate WASSCE results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the provisional results of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates – Second Series.
A total of 41,767 candidates sat for the examination, consisting of 20,036 males and 21,501 females, including 16 visually impaired and seven hearing-impaired candidates. Furthermore, 2,422 registered candidates did not sit for the examination.
In a statement issued by John Kapi, Head of Public Affairs, WAEC drew attention to candidate performance in the four core subjects.
According to WAEC, 67.43% of candidates passed English Language (A1–C6), 49.84% passed Mathematics, 35% passed Integrated Science, and 81.21% passed Social Studies. Meanwhile, 11.25% scored D7, 10.28% E8, and 11.04% F9 in English; 11.05% D7, 11.42% E8, and 27.69% F9 in Mathematics; 14.76% D7, 18.24% E8, and 32% F9 in Integrated Science; and 4.64% D7, 3.72% E8, and 10.42% F9 in Social Studies.
The West African Examinations Council has withheld the entire results of 348 candidates and subject results of 469 others due to alleged examination malpractice, including collusion, impersonation, bringing in unauthorized materials, and seeking external assistance.
The results of these candidates will either be released or cancelled after investigations are concluded. The Council also cautioned the public against scammers promising to upgrade results for a fee via mobile money.
“WAEC’s results database is well secured, and all results can be authenticated. Institutions and organisations are advised to verify results presented to them directly from WAEC or access the confirmation/verification service online at the WAEC website,” the statement said.
Candidates can access their provisional results online at www.waecgh.org. Those with withheld results are to visit https://irreg.waec.org to see reasons for withholding and instructions on next steps.
WAEC expressed appreciation to all stakeholders, including supervisors, invigilators, and examiners, for supporting the successful conduct of the examination and release of results.
