Six Aggrey Memorial students were arrested over an assault on an Adisadel College student

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested six juvenile students of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School for allegedly assaulting a final-year student of Adisadel College at Pedu Junction in Cape Coast.

According to the Police, the incident occurred on Friday, February 20, 2026, at about 3:30 pm. Authorities of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School later handed over the six students to the Kotokuraba Police Station at about 7:30 pm the same day.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim, Rexford Owusu-Ansah, was returning to campus with two friends after the inter-colleges sports festival held at the Cape Coast Stadium. The suspects reportedly stopped them, confirmed that they were students of Adisadel College, and immediately attacked them.

While the two friends managed to escape, the victim was overpowered, knocked to the ground and severely beaten. The suspects also took his iPhone 17 Pro Max, an amount of GH¢1,400, and his shoes.

The victim was first treated at the stadium clinic and later referred to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital. He was discharged on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

A police medical report indicates that the victim sustained a serious injury to the right eye, including damage to the nerve and swelling that has affected his ability to open the eye.

Police say the suspects have been detained to assist with investigations. The victim’s two friends have also indicated that they can identify the attackers.

The Central Regional Police Command has condemned the incident and assured the public that due process will be followed and the juvenile suspects will face the full rigours of the law.
