Abdul Karim Zito, a highly experienced Ghanaian tactician, has made a swift return to the dugout after parting ways with Asante Kotoko SC.

The veteran coach, whose tenure with the Porcupine Warriors came to an end earlier this month following a challenging spell in the league, is set to take on a new assignment in the Division One League.

Zito has been entrusted with the task of restoring FC Ashanti Gold 04 to its former glory, with his contract reportedly set to run until the end of the 2025/26 season. An official announcement is expected before the week concludes.

The Obuasi-based outfit is determined to strengthen its technical bench as it pushes strongly for promotion back to the top flight. Despite his relatively brief stint at Kotoko, Zito left with notable achievements, including steering the Kumasi giants to victory in the MTN FA Cup and capturing the Toyota Cup.

While inconsistent league results ultimately led to his exit, his credentials and experience remain highly respected within local football circles. Zito is widely recognized for his ability to develop young talents and build competitive squads, attributes that could prove crucial for Ashanti Gold 04.

The Miners currently sit atop Division One League Zone 2 with 40 points from 22 matches, holding a narrow three-point lead over Ebusua Dwarfs FC. With promotion to the Ghana Premier League within reach, the club’s leadership believes Zito’s tactical expertise and winning mentality can provide the momentum needed to secure a return to elite football.

His appointment underscores Ashanti Gold 04’s clear ambition and determination to reclaim their place among Ghana’s top clubs.
