The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has declared a nationwide strike to commence on March 9, 2026, in response to the government’s delay in implementing a negotiated unique salary structure and other conditions of service.

At a press conference held in Accra on Thursday, February 19, 2026, Isaac Bampoe Addo, Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, emphasized that the government has reneged on its commitments despite multiple engagements.

“The negotiation with government started in 2019 and government initially agreed to implement the structure in January 1, 2023 then later requested a revised date of implementation to January 1 2025. Come January 1, 2025, nothing happened, promises upon promises, government has not been able to fulfil its promises” he said.

Mr. Addo added that the strike will proceed unless the government shows good faith before the set date.

He noted that several reminders have been sent to the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, but no appropriate response has been received.

According to the Association, negotiations with the government have been completed, and what remains is implementation. It stressed that it is holding the government accountable for the signed agreements, not any particular minister.

CLOGSAG has notified the National Labour Commission of its intended strike action is urging members across the country to stay home from March 9 if the government fails to fulfil its part of the agreement.
