#AFCON2025 FINAL: CAF Rejects Morocco Protest

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has formally rejected a protest lodged by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) regarding alleged infractions committed by the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF) during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final match.
CAF issued the decision in a statement published on its official website on Wednesday.
Morocco had submitted an appeal under Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON regulations, challenging Senegal’s conduct during the final match. Article 82 stipulates that any team that withdraws, refuses to continue play, or leaves the pitch without the referee’s permission must be deemed the loser and eliminated from the competition.
Article 84 further provides that such a team forfeits the match 3–0 unless the opponent already holds a more favorable scoreline.
The protest followed chaotic scenes in the final match, during which Senegal briefly walked off the pitch amid rising tension.
After reviewing the evidence and circumstances surrounding the incident, CAF’s Disciplinary Board ruled that there were not sufficient grounds to support Morocco’s claim.
Morocco eventually lost the final match 1–0 to Senegal after 120 minutes of intense action.
Pape Gueye scored the decisive goal in the first half of extra time, securing the Teranga Lions’ status as champions of Africa.
