As part of a multifaceted approach to combat drug abuse, the Ashanti Regional Police Command, in collaboration with the Food and Drugs Authority, has destroyed a substantial quantity of illicit narcotic drugs, including high-dose tramadol, commonly referred to as ‘Red,’ and marijuana, in the Ashanti Region.

The incineration of the seized substances, which include tramadol in varying strengths of 50 milligrams to 225 milligrams, with a notable prevalence of the 150-milligram variant, was carried out at the Kaase Landfill Site.

The Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command disclosed that the seized narcotics were intercepted through intelligence-driven operations conducted over the past two years.

ASP Fraizer Nutakor, Commanding Officer of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit at the Ashanti Regional Police Command, emphasized that the destruction of these substances is a critical component of the government’s ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking in the country.

He noted that these interventions have yielded positive results and assured the public of the police administration’s renewed commitment to clamp down on the sale and distribution of illegal drugs across the region.
