The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has revealed that Ghana is considering a collaborative bid with other West African countries to host the FIFA World Cup in the future.

This move is in line with the growing trend of countries joining forces to host the expanded tournament, which has seen an increase in participating nations from 32 to 48.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, while the 2030 edition will be hosted by Portugal, Morocco, and Spain.

As Ghana prepares to participate in next year’s World Cup, the Sports Minister has expressed the possibility of Ghana co-hosting the tournament with other West African nations.

“Who knows? The next would be Ghana, Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire coming together to also host the world and it would be good.”

“With the level of infrastructure His Excellency John Dramani Mahama wants us to do, I believe that we together with Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire…we can also ask for that right [to host the World Cup]” Kofi Adams said.

Playing in the 2026 editions marks Ghana’s fifth time participating in the FIFA World Cup.
