“Christians in Nigeria are being attacked” — Nicki Minaj tells United Nations

US rapper Nicki Minaj on Tuesday paid a visit to the United Nations headquarters, raising strong concerns about violence against Christian communities in Nigeria.
Minaj was invited by Mike Waltz, the US ambassador to the UN, for what she described as an in-depth discussion on efforts by the US administration to protect religious freedoms worldwide. She expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump for prioritising the issue and pushing for global action to curb rising attacks.
According to Minaj, Christian communities in parts of Nigeria are “being targeted, driven from their homes, and killed,” with families torn apart and churches burned. She stressed that no one should ever feel unsafe because of their beliefs.
“We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other. That shouldn’t make one person feel less safe than anyone in any room,” she said.
Minaj, who has travelled widely through her career, noted that religion plays a major role in shaping cultures, but warned that faith is “under attack in way too many places,” including Nigeria.
She emphasised that protecting Christians is not about choosing sides, but about safeguarding humanity and promoting peace.
“When one’s church, mosque, or place of worship is destroyed, everyone’s heart should break a little,” she added.
