Opoku Ware, St. Augustine’s and Mfantsipim have secured spots in the NSMQ 2025 Grand Finale

Ghana’s three most prestigious senior high schools, namely Opoku Ware School, St. Augustine’s College, and Mfantsipim School, have qualified for the grand finale of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) after participating in an intense semifinal round at the University of Cape Coast on Monday, November 3, 2025.

The day’s contests began at 9:30 a.m. with a one-sided contest between Mfantsipim School, Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS), and Mankranso Senior High School, which made its first-ever semifinal appearance in the competition. Mfantsipim School emerged victorious, scoring 42 points, while GSTS secured 23 points and Mankranso obtained 15 points.

The second semifinal featured St. Augustine’s College competing against Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary and Amaniampong Senior High School, another first-time semifinalist.

The competition proved fiercely contested, but St. Augustine’s College ultimately triumphed with 46 points, followed by Pope John with 38 points and Amaniampong with 23 points.

In the final semifinal round, Opoku Ware School, Achimota School, and St. Peter’s Senior High School competed, with Opoku Ware School delivering a commanding performance to score 48 points and secure the last spot in the finals.

Achimota secured 27 points, while St. Peter’s managed 10 points, the lowest score across all semifinal contests. Pope John SHS and St. Augustine’s College earned the NSMQ Star Award for achieving a perfect score in the ‘Problem of the Day’ segment.

The highly anticipated grand finale is scheduled for Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the University of Cape Coast, where Opoku Ware School, St. Augustine’s College, and Mfantsipim School will vie for the ultimate crown in what promises to be a captivating final.
