Arathejay was nearly arrested at Kotoka Airport over a flight booked with a fraudulent card

Ghanaian musician AratheJay has recounted how he was nearly arrested at the Kotoka International Airport after a show promoter allegedly booked his flight with a fraudulent card.
In an interview on 3Music on October 30, 2025, the artiste explained that he was invited to perform abroad but was shocked when airline staff questioned the legitimacy of his ticket.
“I went for a show and the promoter booked my flight with a fraudulent card. I got to Kotoka and the teller asked me who booked my flight. I got confused, so I asked her what’s going on,” he said.
AratheJay revealed that despite the incident, the promoter begged him to perform at the event without fulfilling payment obligations. He noted that the situation inspired one of the songs on his upcoming album, titled “Only Fans,” which reflects how some promoters “only care about the fans and clout.”
