Bawumia visits the Rawlings family residence, signs Nana Konadu’s condolence book

Former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia visited the family of the late former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings to offer his condolences and sign the book of condolence.

Bawumia was accompanied by his wife, Samira Bawumia, former Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensa-Bonsu, and former Education and Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, former Works and Housing Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, among others, during the visit.

On Thursday, October 23, 2025, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings passed away at the Ridge Hospital in Accra. As the longest-serving First Lady of Ghana, she devoted her life to women’s empowerment, child welfare, and social development.

Her passing has sparked reactions nationwide, with many highlighting her significant contributions to national life and social advocacy.

On Monday, October 27, Bawumia paid his respects to the Rawlings family and recognized the late former First Lady’s substantial contributions to Ghanaian society.

Deputy CEO of the Forestry Commission, Elikem Kotoko, expressed his disappointment at the tendency of Ghanaians to celebrate public figures only after their death, describing Nana Konadu as a trailblazer whose achievements merited greater recognition during her lifetime.
