“I deserve a diplomatic passport too for promoting Ghana’s traditions” – King Ayisoba

Veteran traditional musician King Ayisoba has expressed his wish to be honoured with a diplomatic passport for his years of promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage globally.

Speaking with Kafui Dey, the “I Want To See My Father” hitmaker said he believes his dedication to showcasing traditional Ghanaian music deserves equal recognition, though he bears no resentment toward those already honoured.

“For me, I can’t say those who have received it don’t deserve it. Someone like Rocky Dawuni has really worked hard—it’s not easy to earn a Grammy nomination. I just hope they also consider me because, truthfully, when it comes to Ghanaian music traditions, I’m one of those who’ve carried it,” King Ayisoba said.

Recently, five Ghanaian creatives — Wode Maya, Rocky Dawuni, Anita Erskine, Ibrahim Mahama, and Dentaa Amoateng — were presented with diplomatic passports for their contributions to promoting Ghana abroad.
