Spintex Knights Secure Place in 2026 Basketball Africa League Divisional Round

Spintex Knights Basketball Club of Ghana has qualified for the Divisional (West) Round of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) qualifiers, marking their second consecutive appearance at this stage.
The team secured the second position in Group B of the zonal qualifiers, finishing behind Cote D’Ivoire’s Jeunesse d’Abidjan.
A crucial 63-53 victory over Benin’s Elan Coton in their final group game sealed their spot, with the Knights achieving two wins in three matches.
Jeunesse d’Abidjan topped the group with an unbeaten record, following an emphatic 76-47 win over Liberia’s L.P.R.C. Oilers.
Although Knights’ star guard James Amotoe had a relatively muted night, scoring 13 points, grabbing six rebounds, and dishing out three assists in just over 33 minutes, Abdul Aziz Yakubu proved to be a game-changer.
The youngster’s vital 14-point, 11-rebound double-double performance off the bench injected new life into the Ghanaian side at a critical point in the contest.
Forward Gatyang Yar Luak also made a significant contribution with 10 points as the team displayed exceptional depth and resilience to triumph over a resilient Elan Coton side.
The win underscores the Knights’ increasing dominance on the regional basketball scene and reinforces their goal to establish a lasting presence on the BAL stage.
Following their qualification, the Spintex Knights are expected to return to Ghana to continue domestic duties in the Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I playoffs.
The defending champions will aim to maintain their winning streak at home as they prepare for the next phase of their continental journey.
