Ghanaian coach Laryea Kingston has been appointed by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) as the new head coach of all Uganda national men’s junior football teams, inking a two-year contract.

FUFA CEO Edgar Watson made the announcement on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, in Kampala, emphasizing the federation’s commitment to youth football development.

Kingston, a former Ghana international player, boasts a wealth of experience and technical know-how, possessing UEFA A and CAF B coaching licenses.

Before joining FUFA, he managed the Ghana U17 national team and made significant contributions at FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark, working with the esteemed Right to Dream Academy, a highly regarded institution for developing young African football talent.

Kingston takes the reins from Samuel Kwesi Fabin, a fellow Ghanaian coach who previously led Uganda’s U17 and U20 sides in 2019. FUFA’s appointment of Kingston underscores their strategy of entrusting Ghanaian coaches with the development of Uganda’s youth football programs.

As Kingston assumes overall command, Brian Ssenyondo will continue to lead the Uganda U17 team, preparing for the upcoming FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.

Following the tournament, Ssenyondo plans to step down but remains open to future coaching opportunities within the national framework.

Kingston’s arrival is anticipated to inject fresh energy and modern tactical approaches into Uganda’s junior teams, aligning with FUFA’s long-term vision of cultivating world-class football talent.

His appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Ugandan youth football on the international stage.
