Police launch manhunt for tricycle rider who assaulted officer in Garu

The Upper East Regional Police Command has commenced an investigation into an incident in which a police officer was assaulted by a commercial tricycle rider in Garu.
The incident allegedly occurred on October 6, 2025, during a stop-and-search operation on the Garu–Nakpanduri road.
The officer and some Community Protection Assistants (CPAs) were inspecting vehicles when they stopped a tricycle carrying sacks of groundnuts with passengers on top.
When the officer instructed the rider to park properly for inspection, the man became violent, physically assaulted the officer, and then escaped on his tricycle.
The police have launched a manhunt to locate the suspect and bring him to justice.
