Black Stars depart Casablanca for Meknes in preparation for CAR match

The Black Stars of Ghana have left Casablanca for Meknes ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic, set for Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

The team has been based in Casablanca since Sunday, using the city as their training base to fine-tune preparations for the penultimate Group I clash. Training sessions were held at the Mohammed V Sports Complex, where twenty players participated under the guidance of head coach Otto Addo and his technical team.

Among the players who took part in the intensive sessions were goalkeepers Lawrence Ati Zigi, Benjamin Asare, and Joseph Anang, as well as defenders Alidu Seidu, Gideon Mensah, Jerome Opoku, Ebenezer Annan, and Alexander Djiku. The midfield was anchored by experienced players like Thomas Partey and Elisha Owusu, alongside Kwasi Sibo and Prince Owusu.

The attack featured the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Joseph Paintsil, Kamal Deen Sulemana, Jordan Ayew, Brandon Thomas Asante, Christopher Bonsu Baah, and Antoine Semenyo.

Ghana will face CAR at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes at 16:00 GMT.

Ghana’s Black Stars are leading Group I with 19 points, boasting a three-point lead.

By securing a win on Wednesday and benefiting from favorable outcomes in other matches, Ghana could confirm their qualification for a fifth FIFA World Cup before facing Comoros in their final group game at home on Sunday.

As the team draws nearer to participating in football’s most prestigious tournament once more, the nation is consumed by excitement and anticipation.
