The Ghana Police Service has refuted claims that narcotic exhibits seized in Sekesua, Eastern Region, have disappeared.

Police have confirmed that all 36 sacks of substances suspected to be narcotics, seized on September 30, 2025, are secure and intact at the Eastern Regional Command.

A Kia truck (registration number ER-760-23) was intercepted along the Sekesua road while transporting bags of dried substances concealed under sawdust. The vehicle was impounded and taken to the Sekesua Police Station, but the driver and his mate escaped custody and remain at large.

In a statement, the Service urged the public to disregard false reports that the exhibits had turned into sawdust, stressing:

“The impounded truck, as well as the 36 sacks of substances suspected to be narcotics, have been retained at the Eastern Regional Command.” The Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) has launched investigations into the conduct of officers involved in the case. Meanwhile, a manhunt is ongoing to re-arrest the suspects who absconded.

The Police Service reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability in handling criminal cases, particularly narcotics-related matters, and assured the public of timely updates.
