The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has authorized a budget of $1.12 million for Ghana’s vital final round of 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in October.

The Black Stars are scheduled to face the Central African Republic and Comoros in their Matchday 9 and 10 fixtures, which will determine their chances of securing a spot at the global tournament.

At a press briefing on Monday, September 29, Sports Minister Kofi Adams confirmed that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) had submitted a proposal ‘within an acceptable range,’ requiring no adjustments from the Ministry.

‘The FA submitted a budget within an acceptable range, and the Ministry did not need to add any comments,’ Kofi Adams noted.

The Minister clarified that the GFA submitted the estimates for both matches on September 18, 2025, and the Ministry forwarded them to the Office of the President the next day, September 19, in line with established protocols.

According to the Minister, the budget includes $733,000 for the away fixture in Casablanca against the Central African Republic and $387,000 for the home match in Accra against Comoros.

“The two-match engagement has a total estimated cost of $1.12 million, broken down into $733,000 for the away game in Casablanca and $387,000 for the home fixture in Accra,” he stated.

Ghana will face the Central African Republic at Stade El Abdi on Wednesday, October 8, and host Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12, in their final qualifier.
