Goldridge Refinery Ltd CEO Dr. Sledge detained by Special Prosecutor over $94m gold trade scandal

Dr. Sledge, Chief Executive Officer of Goldridge Refinery Ltd, has been detained by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) after failing to meet bail conditions in an ongoing corruption probe.

The prominent gold dealer is under investigation for his alleged role in transactions linked to the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) that reportedly resulted in a $94 million loss to the state through gold trade programmes.

According to the OSP, Dr. Sledge will remain in custody while investigations continue into the suspected acts of corruption and financial impropriety.

The case forms part of broader efforts by the OSP to tighten oversight in Ghana’s extractive sector and recover funds lost through questionable deals.
