The National Service Authority (NSA) has uncovered a startling case of payroll fraud during a recent audit, revealing that almost 1,000 babies under the age of one were listed as service personnel. Acting Director General Ruth Seddoh disclosed the shocking revelation, stressing the need for urgent reforms to protect the integrity of the scheme.

According to her, the discovery exposes deep-seated lapses in the system that have allowed unqualified individuals to draw allowances meant for genuine service personnel. “Almost 1,000 babies, under age one, were found on the NSS payroll,” Seddoh said, describing the situation as alarming.

The NSA has since pledged to intensify audits and implement stricter verification processes to eliminate ghost names and fraudulent entries from the payroll. Authorities believe these irregularities not only drain national resources but also undermine the credibility of the service scheme.
