“We were already known before ‘Defe Defe’ went viral” – Team Eternity

Gospel music group, Team Eternity, has clarified that their fame did not begin with their viral hit “Defe Defe.”

Speaking on Thursday’s episode of Bryt Xtra hosted by Afia Achiaa, the group, represented by their media and PR head responded to a question about whether the success of “Defe Defe” was the reason they became popular in Ghana.

According to them, Team Eternity had already established a strong presence, especially among youth churches and universities across the country, long before the release of “Defe Defe.”

“No. The team already had its name before that. When we started our target was the youth but regardless of that we still wanted our message to reach the masses and it did. We had songs out already before ‘Defe Defe’ came out. The universities in Ghana and mostly the youth already knew us,” they explained.

They added that while “Defe Defe” gave them wider exposure, it was not the song that introduced them to the Ghanaian music scene.
