Police apprehend key suspect in Omanjor Homowo violence

The Ghana Police Service has apprehended Newton Allotey, a key suspect in the Omanjor Homowo violence that resulted in three fatalities and several injuries.

Police sources indicate that Allotey, allegedly part of the armed gang that attacked the Omanjor chief’s palace, had been in hiding in Dansoman.

Acting on a tip-off, four tactical teams from the Special Support Unit conducted a coordinated operation at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Monday, September 1, 2025, at Dansoman Last Stop.

During the operation, law enforcement officials recovered 18 spent BB cartridges believed to be linked to the Omanjor attack. Authorities have confirmed that Allotey is currently in custody and cooperating with the investigation.

The Police Service is urging members of the public with information that could facilitate the apprehension of other suspects to come forward.
