“I Don’t Think You People Deserve An Opposition MP, You Deserve An MP In Power “- Asiedu Nketia Claims NPP Shouldn’t Have Contested Akwatia By-Election

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Asiedu Nketia, has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) shouldn’t have contested for the Akwatia by-election.
He noted that the party should have known that, since they are not in power, the seat should have been given to the NDC automatically, because they can help develop Akwatia.
He made this known while speaking at Akwatia, where he has been campaigning ahead of the September 2, 2025, by-election.
In his words, “I am of the view that the NPP shouldn’t have contested the Akwatia seat. They should have left it for us because we are the ones in government. We can do whatever we want because we have the numbers too in Parliament.
I don’t think you people deserve an opposition MP. You deserve an MP who is in power and can be sent by the government to bring about development. You don’t deserve an MP who will join the NPP’s 87 MPs to walk out and, at the end of the month, draw his salary. Akwatia deserves Bernard Bediako, whose party is in power and can cause a change,” he told the charged crowd.
Akwatia will go to the polls on September 2, 2025, to elect a member of parliament.
