You can’t talk about dancehall in Ghana without mentioning Shatta Wale - Gyakie says

Gyakie has described Shatta Wale as one of the most important figures in Ghana’s Dancehall and Reggae scene, noting that his name cannot be left out of any conversation about the genres.
Speaking to the Grammy Recording Academy ahead of her debut album release, she revealed that Shatta Wale features on track four, titled “Harmattan,” and explained why he was her first choice for the collaboration. “In Ghana, when it comes to Dancehall and Reggae, Shatta Wale is one of the first names people mention.
He’s done so much for the industry. After I recorded ‘Harmattan,’ I felt it needed someone else, and his was the first voice I imagined on it,” she said.
The singer shared that the process of working with him was seamless, highlighting how enthusiastic he was about the song.
“We sent the track to him, and I could tell that he loved it because he put so much effort into his verse. I remember speaking with him on the phone, and he told me how much he enjoyed recording it and how good he thought the song was. I’m really grateful he gave his best,” Gyakie noted.
Beyond Shatta Wale, her upcoming album also features American singer 6lack, UK rapper Headie One, and Nigerian artiste Young Jonn.
According to Gyakie, these collaborations were born out of genuine chemistry rather than star power. “These are friends who respect my music and I respect theirs. They loved the songs so the process was easy and it made the music even sweeter,” she explained, adding that their willingness to be part of the project shows she is “doing something right.”
