Trial of KNUST student accused of killing girlfriend adjourned to September 15

The trial of Daniel Tuffuor, a 21-year-old final-year student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), accused of murdering his girlfriend, Joana Deladem Yabani, has been rescheduled for September 15, 2025. Tuffuor was taken into custody on Thursday, February 27, 2025, after Joana’s lifeless body was found on campus earlier that morning.
The University’s security service quickly notified the police, who were alerted to the incident.
Investigations by the police revealed that the deceased and the suspect were in a romantic relationship at the time of the incident.
CCTV footage allegedly showed a man, believed to be Tuffour, strangling her to death following an altercation.
Tuffuor was subsequently brought before the Prempeh District Court, where proceedings are currently underway.
Although Joana has been laid to rest and funeral rites performed, police investigations remain ongoing, while the suspect remains in prison custody on remand.
