Mahama receives Orchid honour in Singapore

President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana has been honored with a unique tribute during his official visit to Singapore.
The National Orchid Garden, located within the Singapore Botanic Gardens, introduced a newly named orchid hybrid ‘Vanda John Dramani Mahama’ in acknowledgement of the President’s visit and his efforts to strengthen international ties.
President Mahama’s tour of the historic Gardens included a naming ceremony. He signed the official visitors’ book and received a guided briefing on the Gardens’ legacy and role in Singapore’s natural heritage.
The VIP Orchid naming tradition is a cornerstone of Singapore’s soft diplomacy, celebrating visiting heads of state and other global dignitaries. Orchids named through this programme are not only admired for their beauty but also serve as symbols of respect, friendship, and shared growth between nations.
Singapore’s decision to name this distinctive orchid after President Mahama serves as a testament to Ghana’s leadership and the burgeoning relationship between the two countries.
The “Vanda John Dramani Mahama” is now part of a select collection of floral dedications to world leaders, showcasing the intersection of nature and culture in fostering international cooperation.
