Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has disclosed his team’s roster for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers, featuring high-stakes matches against Chad and Mali.
Ghana will visit Chad’s Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Deby Itno on September 4, as part of Matchday 7, and subsequently host Mali at Accra Sports Stadium on September 8. These matches are critical, as the Black Stars endeavor to secure their place in the tournament.

Addo’s squad selection demonstrates a deliberate fusion of seasoned professionals and emerging players.

In goal, Lawrence Ati Zigi of St. Gallen, Joseph Anang of St. Patrick’s Athletic, and Benjamin Asare from Accra Hearts of Oak have been called up. This trio aims to provide solidity and depth between the posts as Ghana braces for challenging away and home conditions.

Defensively, the Black Stars boast a strong lineup featuring players from competitive European leagues. Gideon Mensah (AJ Auxerre), Derrick Arthur Köhn (Union Berlin), Mohammed Salisu (AS Monaco), and Jerome Opoku (Istanbul Basaksehir) lead the backline.

They are joined by Alexander Djiku (Fenerbahçe), Jonas Adjetey (FC Basel), Tariq Lamptey (Brighton & Hove Albion), and Caleb Yirenkyi (FC Nordsjaelland), offering a mix of pace, physicality, and tactical awareness.

Midfielders called up include Elisha Owusu and Ibrahim Osman from AJ Auxerre, Mohammed Kudus from Tottenham Hotspur, Ibrahim Sulemana of Atalanta, Thomas Partey of Villarreal, and Abdul Salis Samed from OGC Nice.

This midfield unit is expected to control the tempo of the game and create opportunities for the forwards, combining creative flair with defensive resilience.

In attack, Ghana will rely on the sharpness of Antoine Semenyo (AFC Bournemouth), Kamaldeen Sulemana (Atalanta), Joseph Paintsil (LA Galaxy), Jerry Afriyie (Raal La Louvière), Jordan Ayew (Leicester City), Christopher Bonsu Baah (Al-Qadsiah), and Iñaki Williams (Athletic Club).
