My only regret is taking that nude picture with my son – Akuapem Poloo

Ghanaian actress Akuapem Poloo, born Hajia Haniya Rosemond Alade Brown, has opened up about her deepest regret — the infamous nude photo with her son that led to her arrest and short prison sentence in 2021.

In a candid interview on AsaasePa FM, Poloo admitted, “I wish I didn’t take that picture with my son. That is my only regret.”

She revealed the post, which many criticized at the time, was a misunderstood expression of the pain and sacrifices of single motherhood.

She explained that the image was symbolic: “That is how naked I came into this world and that is how I am raising him. If he turns out well in future, after I have spent all my money on him, and sees me on the street mentally unstable, he should cover me and take me home.”

The actress insisted the photo was never for attention but was “a personal expression” of her struggles. Reflecting on her time in prison, she shared, “I would not wish jail on even my worst enemy. It takes your freedom away mentally.”

Now a mother of two, Poloo says the experience has reshaped her views on privacy and parenting. She revealed that she no longer shares images of her daughter online, noting the importance of protecting her children’s peace and dignity moving forward.
