2 dead, 19 rescued in fatal multi-vehicle collision near Fiesta Royale hotel
A fatal road traffic accident occurred on the N1 highway near the Fiesta Royale Hotel in Accra on Monday, February 23, resulting in the loss of two lives and nineteen injuries.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to the distress call at 7:58 p.m. and arrived at the scene at 8:14 p.m. The accident involved a Kia motor truck (GG 1304-18), a Sprinter Bus (GX 8325-13), and a Volvo trailer (GT 7856-20).
Fire officers provided immediate emergency care to the victims. Out of 21 recorded casualties, 2 persons died at the scene, while 19 others were taken to Achimota Hospital and the 37 Military Hospital for treatment.
The GNFS worked with other emergency responders to secure and manage the scene, prevent secondary incidents, and clear the roadway. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The Service offered condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery, urging motorists to observe traffic regulations and prioritize road safety.
