Gospel Legend, Ron Kenoly to be laid to rest today

The funeral service for Dr. Ron Kenoly, a highly acclaimed American gospel singer, songwriter, and worship leader, is scheduled to take place today, Friday, February 20, 2026.

Dr. Kenoly passed away on February 3, 2026, at the age of 81, leaving behind a legacy of worship classics, including Jesus is Alive, Sing Out, and My God is Able.

A Celebration of Service honoring Dr. Kenoly’s life and legacy will be held at Judah Church (also known as Jubilee Church) in Orlando, Florida, on Friday, commencing at 11:00 AM local time.

The event will bring together Dr. Kenoly’s family, fans, and prominent figures in gospel music. Legendary worship leader Don Moen and other notable personalities are expected to perform, paying tribute to Dr. Kenoly’s enduring legacy.

On Thursday, February 19, 2026, a public viewing was held, allowing family, fans, and loved ones to pay their respects and celebrate Dr. Kenoly’s life and ministry.

Dr. Kenoly’s music has had a profound impact on millions worldwide, leaving a lasting legacy in the global gospel scene.

Born in Coffeyville, Kansas, Kenoly’s musical journey began in a local Baptist church. After high school, he joined the military and later explored different music styles, including secular genres, before fully dedicating his life to worship ministry in 1985.

Until his passing, Ron Kenoly continued to be deeply involved in his ministry, serving as a faculty member at two universities in the United States, traveling extensively to minister internationally, and leading a mentoring initiative that equipped pastors, musicians, worship leaders, and choir directors for church and parachurch music ministries.

He is remembered for his profound influence on global Christian worship, which extended far beyond his role as a worship leader.

His 1992 album Lift Him Up, released under the Integrity Hosanna Music label, achieved significant success, earning Gold certification after selling over 500,000 copies and becoming one of the most successful live worship albums of its time.
