Mamprobi Polyclinic ‘baby thief’ arrested

The Ghana Police Service has taken into custody a woman suspected of being involved in the alleged theft of a newborn at the Mamprobi Polyclinic in Accra, with the baby safely recovered.
The suspect, dressed as a nurse, was caught on the facility’s CCTV cameras carrying the baby and leaving the premises with what appeared to be a sack. The footage has been widely shared on social media.
The incident is believed to have occurred on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, shortly after the mother delivered via cesarean section.
The baby was allegedly taken from the facility, causing panic among staff and patients.
The police have confirmed that the suspect is cooperating with the investigation. The safe retrieval of the newborn has brought relief to the family and community.
