Father arrested for allegedly trying to sell three-year-old son for GH₵1 million

A man has been apprehended following a police operation that rescued his three-year-old son from an alleged plot to sell the child for ritual purposes in exchange for GH₵1 million.
The suspect, identified as Coffie Agyemang, is accused of planning to hand over the boy to unknown persons who would allegedly kill the child for money rituals.
According to information gathered by the police, the plan was for parts of the child’s body to be taken for the rituals, after which the body would be returned to create the impression that the boy had been murdered elsewhere.
Sources say the alleged plan came to light after concerns were raised about the child’s safety, prompting swift police action. Officers moved in and rescued the boy before any harm could be done. Investigators say Coffie Agyemang allegedly admitted that severe financial hardship pushed him to consider selling his son.
He is currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are underway to identify any accomplices linked to the alleged plot. The rescued child is said to be safe and receiving care as authorities work with social welfare officials to ensure his protection.
Police have assured the public that the law will take its full course as investigations continue.
