GNFS rescues 26 individuals following a multi-vehicle crash near Kintampo Waterfalls

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) successfully rescued 26 passengers from a multiple-vehicle accident that occurred near the Kintampo Waterfalls in the Bono East Region on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.

Three of the victims sustained injuries and were promptly transported to the Kintampo Municipal Hospital for medical attention. The Service received a distress call at 3:59 p.m. and immediately dispatched a rescue team, which arrived at the scene at 5:24 p.m.

Firefighters found multiple vehicles involved in the collision, including a Mercedes Sprinter that had crashed into parked cars and caught fire. The incident occurred while a Kia Bongo vehicle that had fallen into a pit three days earlier was being towed.

The GNFS reported that 26 passengers were trapped at the scene and were successfully rescued by its personnel.

The swift response of its crew helped prevent further casualties, and an investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway.
