Minority calls for first reshuffling of Ministers
The Minority in Parliament has requested that President Mahama consider a first ministerial reshuffle following concerns over the absence of some ministers from parliamentary proceedings.
This follows concerns raised over the absence of the Minister of State in Charge of Public Sector Reforms, Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, and the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, to answer questions relating to their sectors.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, noted that some ministers are reneging on duty and failing to appear before the House to answer questions.
He stressed that questions for some Ministers had been on the Order Paper for a long time and must be addressed before the House goes on recess.
“These questions are questions advertised in the name of the Minister in Charge of Public Sector Reforms. They have been on the Order Paper for a very long time. We have to take action because we will be rising on Friday.”
“Besides, front bench, Minister for Agric just wrote to us that he cannot come. That’s fine. Eric has been a very beautiful person, I won’t begrudge him but his Deputy must be here,” he noted.
The Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP noted that members of the Majority caucus who are eager to serve the state must be given the opportunity to do so.
“The President must be watching. The first reshuffle must happen. Majority Leader, tell the President the Ministers who are not ready to do public business, the President must reshuffle them. Honourable Zuwera is ready, Honourable Sosu for instance has been suffering for long, he’s been waiting,” he stated.
