Ghanaian musician Captain Planet, formerly of the defunct group 4X4, has stirred controversy following recent FBI indictments of some Ghanaian nationals over alleged romance scams.

In a series of posts shared on X (formerly Twitter) on December 13, 2025, the artiste claimed that if he were involved in fraud, he would never have been suspected. According to him, scammers expose themselves by flaunting wealth on social media.

He warned users to be cautious when signing up on social platforms, alleging that personal data collected online is used by agencies like the FBI to track individuals.

Captain Planet also criticised what he described as selective justice, arguing that while ordinary citizens face jail time, corrupt politicians often escape punishment.
