Mahama extends IGP Yohuno’s tenure by two years

President John Dramani Mahama has approved a two-year extension for Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, following a recommendation by the Police Council.
This extension will allow IGP Yohuno to continue his leadership of the Ghana Police Service, driving forward ongoing reforms and strengthening national security operations. The move seeks to ensure continuity in security management and sustain the progress made under his leadership.
IGP Yohuno, appointed earlier this year, has been credited with enhancing police visibility, developing effective crime response strategies, and advancing community-policing initiatives across Ghana.
His initial retirement date was set for December 2025.
