John Odartey Lamptey, the individual seen physically assaulting a woman believed to be his wife in a viral Facebook video, has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

The arrest occurred on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Lamptey’s family residence in Ofankor, Ga East Municipality, after the disturbing video sparked widespread public outrage.

According to a statement issued by the CID and signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, two of Lamptey’s siblings, Grace Kushie Lamptey and Louis Odartey Lamptey, were also apprehended.

The siblings allegedly attempted to attack a female tenant suspected of recording and circulating the video, but police intervened swiftly to ensure the tenant’s safety.

The CID further disclosed that efforts are ongoing to locate the victim, who reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived. Her safety and well-being, according to the Police, remain a top priority.

The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to protecting victims of domestic violence and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice. The statement emphasised that the Service will continue to act decisively in all such cases and urged the public to report incidents of abuse promptly.
