Nana Konadu: Rawlings family announces funeral arrangements

The family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, has announced the arrangements for her state funeral, which will take place on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra.

On Tuesday, November 18, Oheneba Akwasi Abayie, Otumfuo Akomforehene, speaking on behalf of the family, revealed that the funeral activities will commence at 6 a.m. with the arrival of the cortege at the venue.

In terms of dress code, the family has specified that mourners are expected to wear black, with no official funeral attire designated.

The funeral is open to the public, and everyone is invited to participate fully, with security personnel guiding attendees to their designated seats.

“The funeral, which will happen at Independence Square, is open to the general public, and the public is hereby invited to participate fully. Security will direct all mourners to their seats. The 28th of November will be the final funeral rite, and there will be no funeral service held elsewhere.”

Nana Konadu, founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement and former First Lady, passed away on October 23, 2025.

In addition, the government has confirmed that a state funeral will be held in her honour, underscoring her enduring legacy in Ghana’s political and social life.
