A road crash near the Kasoa tollbooth in the Central Region on Sunday resulted in substantial loss of life and left many individuals fighting for survival.

The accident involved a fully loaded Sprinter minibus with registration number GW 7455-18 heading toward Kasoa and a Jeep 4×4 (GR 7673) that witnesses say was reversing on the highway. The impact was so violent that the minibus flipped several times before coming to rest in a wrecked heap.

Eyewitnesses reported that several passengers died instantly, while others were trapped in the crushed vehicle. Residents nearby and emergency responders rushed to the scene to pull survivors from the debris.

One of the survivors, critically injured, faced further danger when paramedics struggled to find a hospital willing to accept the patient after initial treatment at the Ngleshie Amanfro Polyclinic.

The transfer reportedly took nearly an hour as emergency workers searched for a major facility to provide care.

Authorities are yet to release an official death toll or details of the injured.
