President John Dramani Mahama has announced a three-day period of national mourning in commemoration of the passing of former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

The mourning period commences on Friday, October 24, and concludes on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

According to a statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, on Friday, October 24, all national flags will be flown at half-mast across public buildings, government installations, and Ghana’s diplomatic missions worldwide.

This gesture serves as a tribute to Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings’ memory and her distinguished service to the nation.

It noted that the late former First Lady served Ghana with “dedication and commitment,” particularly in the areas of women’s empowerment, child welfare, and social development.

“The Government extends its deepest condolences to the family, her children, and all who mourn this irreplaceable loss. May her soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, who died on Thursday at the Ridge Hospital in Accra at the age of 76, was a towering and influential figure in Ghana’s political and social landscape.
