Senegalese Footballer Cheikh Touré found Dead in Ghana after kidnapping and ransom demands

A devastating tragedy has struck Senegalese football with the confirmation of 18-year-old goalkeeper Cheikh Touré’s death in Ghana.
Senegal’s Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs revealed that Touré was lured by fake football scouts who deceived him into believing he had a chance at trials with a professional club.
The scammers allegedly kidnapped Touré upon his arrival in Ghana and demanded a ransom from his family. When the family failed to meet the demands, the kidnappers took his life.
An investigation is currently underway, with Ghanaian authorities working closely with their Senegalese counterparts to bring those responsible to justice.
This incident has sparked widespread grief and outrage, highlighting the dangers of football trafficking and fraudulent recruitment schemes targeting young African players.
The Senegalese Ministry has urged clubs, academies, coaches, and parents to exercise extreme caution regarding unverified offers of trials or transfers abroad.
