Black Stars move up two spots to 73rd in the latest FIFA ranking after an impressive display in World Cup qualifiers

The Black Stars of Ghana have witnessed a two-place rise in the latest FIFA world ranking, courtesy of their exceptional performances in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
This improvement comes shortly after the team climbed one position in the previous ranking update. Under the stewardship of coach Otto Addo, Ghana now occupies the 73rd spot globally.
This upward movement is a reflection of the team’s outstanding performances during the October 2025 international window, where they secured victories against Madagascar and Comoros. The Black Stars dominated Madagascar 5-0 in Morocco and later edged out Comoros 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
These wins enabled Ghana to finish at the top of Group I in the World Cup qualifying campaign. Despite the progress on the global stage, Ghana’s continental ranking remains steady.
The team continues to hold 14th place among African nations, showing room for further improvement on the continent.
Coach Addo is optimistic about enhancing the team’s standing as they prepare for friendlies against Japan and South Korea next month, aiming to build on their recent success and strengthen their position in future rankings.
