Maxwell Konadu appointed head coach of Bibiani GoldStars on two-year deal

Bibiani GoldStars, the reigning Ghana Premier League champions, have named Maxwell Konadu, former Black Stars assistant coach, as their new head coach, securing his services on a two-year contract until 2027.
This appointment marks the end of a transitional period for GoldStars, who had been without a permanent coach since the departure of Frimpong Manso.
Manso’s dismissal came after Bibiani GoldStars suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of JS Kabylie in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round tie at Accra Sports Stadium.
Following Manso’s exit, assistant coach Nana Yaw Amankwah led the team in the return leg in Algeria, where they were handed a 5-0 loss, resulting in a 7-0 aggregate defeat and elimination from the continental competition.
Konadu’s appointment brings considerable coaching expertise to Bibiani GoldStars. As a seasoned tactician, he has previously managed prominent clubs, including Asante Kotoko and Legon Cities, as well as national youth teams like the Black Meteors.
He also has experience coaching South African club Black Leopards and is expected to utilize this expertise to aid GoldStars in defending their league title.
Konadu is set to oversee his first match as head coach on Wednesday, October 8, when Bibiani GoldStars face Asante Kotoko in a rescheduled Ghana Premier League fixture at Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
