Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that the government plans to establish a passport application center in every region by December 2025.

He revealed that the first of these new centers will commence operations in Bolgatanga this month, as part of efforts to decentralize passport services and enhance accessibility nationwide.

The Minister made this disclosure during a ceremony where diplomatic passports were presented to five distinguished Ghanaians: travel vlogger Wode Maya, Grammy-nominated reggae artist Rocky Dawuni, broadcaster and entrepreneur Anita Erskine, contemporary visual artist Ibrahim Mahama, and British-Ghanaian entrepreneur Dentaa Amoateng MBE.

According to Mr. Ablakwa, the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s ongoing reforms have significantly transformed the passport application process, emphasizing that applicants no longer need to endure stress at collection centers, as they can now obtain their passports efficiently through courier services.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry has achieved remarkable efficiency, and Ghanaians are acknowledging that the passport application process has become streamlined.

Passports are being received in record time, and the inconvenience of visiting passport offices for collection has been alleviated through the implementation of courier delivery services.

Nevertheless, seven regions remain without passport application centers. It is with pleasure that I announce that by December, we will guarantee the presence of a passport application center in every region currently without one, beginning with Bolgatanga this month.
