Former Coach of Black Galaxies and Great Olympics, Annor Walker, dies at 67

Annor Walker, a renowned tactician and former head coach of Accra Great Olympics, has passed away on October 1, 2025, after a short illness at his residence in Accra.
Walker is fondly remembered for his exceptional work with Great Olympics, where he built one of the club’s most competitive sides in recent Ghana Premier League seasons.
Throughout his illustrious coaching career, he managed several prominent Ghanaian clubs, including Nania FC, Kpando Hearts of Lions, and Berekum Chelsea. As a CAF License A holder, Walker achieved great success with Nania FC, serving as assistant and later head coach between 2005 and 2011.
He guided the club to a memorable triumph in the 2011 MTN FA Cup, defeating giants Asante Kotoko 1–0 in the final at the Accra Sports Stadium to secure Nania’s first major trophy.
In February 2020, Walker embarked on a new challenge as the leader of Great Olympics, where he established bold objectives and spearheaded the revitalization of the Accra-based side.
After a brief hiatus due to health concerns, Walker returned with characteristic resilience and tactical flair, expertly navigating the team into the upper half of the league table and revitalizing their competitive edge.
Throughout his illustrious coaching career, Walker distinguished himself through his unwavering commitment to tactical discipline, talent development, and the advancement of Ghanaian football. His enduring legacy will continue to inspire the many players and clubs he impacted.
