GAF nationwide recruitment exercise to enlist 12,000 personnel – Deputy Defence Minister

Deputy Defence Minister Brogya Genfi has announced a significant recruitment drive by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to enhance the nation’s defence and security capacity. The exercise, which begins this week, will see the enlistment of 12,000 new personnel over the next three years.
Mr. Genfi stated that, consistent with President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to affordability, accessibility, and fairness, the cost of recruitment forms has been reduced by more than 40% compared to the previous exercise.
Additionally, recruitment will be conducted across all regions to ensure equal opportunity and inclusion. He stressed that the process will be transparent and strictly merit-based, warning the public against fraudulent recruitment schemes.
“Recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces is NOT for sale—and will NEVER be for sale under our watch. Any individual or syndicate involved in fraudulent recruitment schemes will be dealt with without mercy,” he warned.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that social media platforms will not be utilized for recruitment purposes.
He noted that the requirements, procedures, and regional recruitment centers will be published on the Ministry of Defence and GAF websites, as well as in select newspapers and electronic media.
Mr. Genfi highlighted the government’s vision of establishing a disciplined, inclusive, and professional military force.
“We are building a force that embodies the strength, discipline, and unity of Ghana,” he stated.
