Police have intervened to restore calm at Wesley Senior High School in Konongo, Ashanti Region, after some students allegedly went on a rampage and hurled stones at the residence of the senior housemistress.

The incident reportedly occurred after the housemistress confronted a candidate sitting for this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) for allegedly cheating during the Christian Religious Studies (CRS) paper on Friday, September 5.

According to the headmistress, Rev. Agnes Gaisie, the candidate verbally assaulted the housemistress following the confrontation. The student was later made to apologise and taken through counselling.

However, on the night of Sunday, September 7, a group of students allegedly launched the stone-pelting attack, prompting swift police intervention.

Rev. Gaisie noted that investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators. She assured parents and the public that the situation has since been brought under control and that the ongoing WASSCE examinations are progressing smoothly.
