Fiorentina signs Tariq Lamptey on a four-year deal from Brighton

Italian Serie A club Fiorentina has officially announced the acquisition of Ghanaian international Tariq Lamptey from Premier League team Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal valued at £6 million, inclusive of add-ons.
The transfer marks a new chapter for the versatile right-back, who joins La Viola as a backup option behind Brazilian defender Dodo. Lamptey has been assigned the jersey number 48 ahead of his debut season with the Italian side.
Lamptey’s last season at Brighton was significantly impacted by recurring injuries, which limited him to just 15 appearances across all competitions. Despite the setbacks, the 24-year-old defender contributed two goals and multiple assists during his time on the pitch.
Tariq Lamptey has faced injury struggles, leading to his exclusion from Brighton’s matchday squads in their first three games of the current campaign against Fulham, Everton, and Oxford United.
Since joining Brighton from Chelsea, Lamptey has accumulated 104 appearances and scored three goals, showcasing his adaptability as a flank player.
Lamptey is notable for his pace and attacking prowess from defense, and his ability to play as both a full-back and winger has been a valuable asset throughout his career in England’s top flight.
As Tariq Lamptey transitions to Serie A football with Fiorentina, he is also preparing to represent Ghana on the international stage.
The right-back is expected to join his Black Stars teammates for the upcoming Matchday 7 and 8 fixtures of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, scheduled against Chad and Mali later this month.
His presence will be crucial as Ghana bids to secure a place in the global tournament.
